Valerie Seveney

Val is a first grade teacher at Melville Elementary in Portsmouth, RI. She is so excited to be a Fuse Fellow because it connects her to inspiring educators throughout Rhode Island, thus helping her to grow and be a better teacher. Being part of an early adopter teacher cohort in her school district accelerated her learning and fueled her passion for blended learning, and she is eager to “pay it forward.” Her educator superpower is continually exploring ways she can give her students as much voice and choice as possible because she's seen how it invests them in their own learning.
ACHIEVEMENTS
  • Achieved full lighthouse classroom certification in all 4 domains of the Priority Practices Tool
  • Participated in Camp PBL RI & shared project spotlights with other implementers across the state
  • Coached early adopter teachers at Melrose School in Jamestown
