Ashlee Burns

Foster-Glocester

Ashlee is an English teacher at Ponaganset High School in the Foster-Glocester Regional School District. She is excited to be a Fuse Fellow because of the ability to network with educators who not only see the advances being made in education, but also acknowledge those advances in a positive way. Collaborating with this cohort not only helps to empower the fellows, but also the RI students they serve. Her educator superpower is empathy. Whether she does so consciously or not, she tends to put herself in the shoes of her students and colleagues to understand what motivates them, what challenges they want to conquer, and finally what successes they want to achieve. She doesn't see herself as the 'be all, end all' in her classroom, however, she also wants her students to view her as a confident and intelligent young woman that respects their voices and choices in life.
