5 Questions for the Fuse RI Fellowship
Are you passionate about personalizing learning for students? Does the idea of collaborating with like-minded educators from across Little Rhody excite you? Are cool things happening in your school/district that you’d like to spotlight? Then Fuse RI might be for you!
Who?
The Fuse RI Fellowship is open to all K-12 educators working in Rhode Island schools (public, charter, and private school educators are all eligible). Past Fuse Fellows have included classroom teachers, coaches, principals, and district administrators. We are currently recruiting Cohort 4 Fellows, with applications due May 5, 2017.
What?
Fuse RI focuses on cross-district collaboration, pairing Fellows from 2 different Rhode Island LEAs with a Partner District that neither one of them works in. This intentional district diversity allows for the spreading of best practices, shared solutions, and fresh perspectives. Fellows work with their district teams to define their visions for blended & personalized learning and select priority behaviors that they want to see amongst teachers and students at the classroom level. Then, the majority of the Fellowship focuses on peer-to-peer coaching between Fellows and early adopter teachers in their Partner Districts.
How?
The Fellowship is built on 100 hours of work per year for 2 full school years, with a 2-day Bootcamp each summer. Fellows dedicate 5 support days each year to their Partner Districts for on-the-ground meetings and coaching. This means they commit to being out of their home district for these 5 days out of the 180 day school year.
Why?
Past Fellows have called Fuse RI one of the best professional development experiences they’ve had as educators, and have seen many opportunities and conversations opened up through their participation in the program. In addition to the training and support, Fellows receive a $1,500 stipend per year, a $2,000 flex spending account for projects, resources, and conferences; and have the option of receiving a blended learning certificate from Roger Williams University.
